Summertown Students Complete CNA Class

These students took their spring break and several weekend days and week nights to complete their required training for the CNA class at NHC.

Ronita Vanderford, the CNA instructor of NHC did an excellent job and the students learned so much.  On my visits to the NHC facility I was impressed to find them working hard in the halls and patient rooms making a great impression as professionals in the health care setting.

The SHS students will also be able to receive an extra credit toward graduation due to a contracted agreement between the NHC facility and the Board of Education for their time involved (which equals a semester of hours).

The students will take their state exams on April 18th and will follow up with a pinning ceremony TBA.  I am so excited to offer this opportunity to our students.

SHS is currently unable to offer this course however this does not hinder our ability to give these students the training they desire to become CNA's.  The opportunity is still there for our students to get their certification and it was "FREE".

"We have had a few students already gain employment as a result of taking this course".    Our Superintendant, Dr. Bill Heath expresses his desire for us to make our students "job ready" or "college ready".  This opportunity has provided both.

I would like to express a special thank you to Mr. Long, Mr. Neidert, Glendora Fleeman and Ronita Vanderford for their assistance in making this happen for our students at SHS...says Mrs. Barnett, Health Science & Technology Instructor of SHS.
